Sam and Jack Weaver aka Ocean Bones, are the Darwin duo we've introduced you to recently. Having formed in a music scene where originality is well-supported but is bound by their isolation at the same time, the duo have developed a musical output that represents the music they've grown up making and also tunes that have been influenced by a wide range of Australian and international artists. From hip-hop to hardcore music, these two have got quite the diverse palette. We got in touch to see which songs they're currently digging and the artists who have been influential on their musicianship.

Everything Everything - "To The Blade"

Sam: I only heard these guys for the first time a few months ago and I have had their new record on repeat ever since. This track really explodes instrumentally, as does the rest of the record.

Earl Sweatshirt - "Grief"

Sam: Earl has been a constant in my playlist for a while now and this track is definitely a highlight from his latest project. The beat on this thing is so entrancing and Earl's delivery is panicked and perfect.

Bon Iver - "Heavenly Father"

Sam: Those vocal drones. I am actually in love with Justin Vernon. This track has such a beautiful tone and the lyrical message is bang on.

The National - "Sorrow"

Sam: Not exactly a new track, but such an important one for me. I was recommended this song as my first introduction to The National's music from a friend and I've been in love with it ever since. It's a perfect example of how emotive and potent a simple song can be. Heartbreaking stuff.

Now, Now - "Wolf"

Sam: The vocals and lyrics are beautiful, the keys are lush and the guitars and drums are sharp and persistent. I love that kind of dark, hypnotising indie pop sound and these guys do it perfectly.

The Wonder Years - "Cigarettes and Saints"

Jack: This band just keeps getting better and better. Definitely one of my favourite bands ever and this song has taken what they do to a whole new level, along with their other recent single, "Cardinals", that they released a few weeks prior. This song hits the feelings hard and I've always loved that about TWY.

The 1975 - "Robbers"

Jack: I've loved this song from the moment I heard it and it has remained a constant inspiration to music in general for me. It just has such a cool feel to it and I can't get over how cool Matt's vocals are on this track.

Northlane - "Node"

Jack:"Node" is my favourite track off of Northlane's latest album Node. This song and album really challenges the hardcore genre in my opinion and I honestly get quite tired of the generic hardcore sometimes. This track does something completely different to Northlane's older work and it keeps you on your toes as goes for most of this album. I really dig listening to something different.

Young Lions - "Grave Digger"

Jack: Great song. These guys have an awesome sound and this track is probably my favourite. The way the feel changes and picks up in the pre chorus gets me everytime. Solid track!

Bring Me The Horizon - "Throne"

Jack: I'm really liking the new BMTH sound. Its a big change but i really dig it. The hooks are great and still hits you so hard when it needs to. Chorus is huge.
